What could be better than enjoying good company over home made cakes with nicely brewed coffee filling the air, as well as the smell of freshly cut flowers from our own garden?! It really is all the little things that make Birtley House a home. Everyone there wanted to take part in the competition at our monthly coffee social. Not forgetting a “Happy Birthday” song for Margaret who turned 95 the week before, some beginners luck drawn in the raffle for both residents and the house team with a lovely range of prizes at the end… the extra biscuits certainly went down well.
Like the coffee, charming conversation and witty banter flowed between long standing Mews residents, long term care residents who have become friends and fresh faces from people in for short term respite care and day club. Also present were new members of the Birtley House team who were officially welcomed in.
Mornings like this are the perfect way to meet some new faces, as well as get to know our residents. Equally it offers a great opportunity for them to get to know us, joining in as much or as little as they wish.
