Respite & Recuperation...

At Birtley House, we welcome residents who need a place for short stay respite care, recuperation and rehabilitation, from as little as 7 nights. Our varied accommodation and support packages can be tailored to your specific requirements.

What is Respite Care?

A place to call home or a temporary residence to stay at for as long as you need until you get back on your feet.

Respite care provides support to individuals who may be recovering from an illness, accident or such surgery. Additionally, their caregivers may need temporary relief with a specialised support network in place. This type of short–term care provides a break for carers in situations where older people that need extra support can be cared for in another environment when their primary carers are not available.

Respite stays are very common in the care industry and here at Birtley House, regardless of the situation, our friendly and supportive team are here to help you and your loved ones.

Respite Care at Birtley House

Our short term stays can range from as little as one week (7 nights), to sometimes several months. With our varied accommodation and support packages, respite stays can be tailored to your specific requirements.

At Birtley, we treat all our residents with the same respectful and high level of care irrespective of their individual needs. Therefore, the care our residents receive from a short respite stay is no different from the care received by someone who is a long-term resident at our nursing home here in Bramley, Surrey. It is purely the length of stay that is different. And of course, someone who chooses to live at Birtley for the long-term has the option to purchase a home with one of our apartments which also help to reduce the costs of long-term care.

The option to stay for as little as one week allows people the opportunity to have a break and feel support around them if they are feeling a little tired in life, looking to recover from a fall, illness or a period of time in a hospital, or simply enjoy a taster of life at Birtley care home for a week.

The Benefits of Respite Care

Respite breaks can often bring many benefits to both the caregiver and individuals themselves. Short term stays can be planned in advance or a spontaneous decision depending on the situation. This type of recuperation provides the opportunity for socialisation and the enjoyment of new experiences as well as the chance to meet new friends, all of which are paramount for the individual’s wellbeing.

Short stay breaks are the perfect opportunity to try out the nursing care home facilities and figure out if it is the correct fit and environment. Every one of us is different and so these decisions are very important and ones we must treat with priority. At Birtley House, we pride ourselves on our “home from home” approach with our residents and believe that it is what makes us that extra bit special.
