What Accommodation Is on offer at Birtley House?
– Independent living at Birtley Mews

How to Decide What Care Accommodation style is right for me?
Choosing the right accommodation for your time at Birtley House can be a challenge, but we are here to help.
The accommodation you choose will likely depend on the level of care assistance you require for your time here. For example, our independent living apartments offer the benefits of independence for those who don’t yet need personal or nursing care but would appreciate support from a warden and relief from household maintenance. However, residents looking to come in long-term, or under our full-time palliative care programmes would be best suited to our West-Wing apartments or traditional care home rooms.
Some more in-depth information to help you decide on these options is listed below.
Traditional Nursing Home Rooms:
- Available on a weekly rental basis of seven nights and eight days.
- Length of stay can range from 1-week temporary accommodation to long-term residence.
- Standard, premium and deluxe room options available.
- Nearly all of our rooms are equipped with an ensuite W.C. and basin, and a handful have an ensuite wet-room.
West Wing Apartments:
- Full-time, 24/7 nursing care.
- Best-suited to long-term stays.
- Available on a purchase license basis.
- The apartments are sold on a ‘debenture’ scheme.
- Monthly care fees are required; however, these are much reduced in comparison to that of a traditional nursing home room.
- View availability of West Wing apartments.
Independent Living at Birtley Mews:
- Low level of care assistance required by the resident.
- Consists of eight 2-bedroom flats, ground or first floor with lift available.
- Over time, living in a Mews flat can be far more cost-effective than maintaining your own house and utility bills.
- Countryside views of the Birtley Mews grounds in Bramley.
- Furnished with your own belongings, so it feels like home.

What does your day-to-day life look like at Birtley?
No matter which accommodation you choose to reside in, no day is the same at Birtley House for our residents. We offer a multitude of activities to keep you happy, busy and occupied. Some of the activities we offer range from talks by guest speakers, musical afternoons, arts and crafts, word games and quizzes to the celebration of anniversaries and dates of special interest and significance. You can rest assured that Birtley House has something for you – and if we don’t, you can change that! We always take on board what our residents have to say, and some residents have even formed their own clubs. They will also have the option to share some of their life stories with the care home and act as our very own guest speakers.

The Birtley Gardens
Regardless of the accommodation you choose, you will still get to enjoy the acres of garden on the Birtley Estate.
From stretching expanses of beautifully maintained gardens visible from your window to the option to take a walk through the Birtley Estate, nature plays a huge part in your enjoyment at Birtley House.
The eight acres of formal gardens incorporate easy-access paths to allow our less mobile Residents to enjoy much of the scenery, with many seats throughout which provide a place to rest or simply sit and enjoy the view.
We are very lucky to be placed in the beautiful grounds of Surrey Hills ANOB (Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty), and we know our residents gain wellness benefits from it too. In fact, in 2022 we won the ‘Winner for Best Outdoor Environment!’ award at the Caring UK Awards.
