Our Very Own Care Home Manager wins at the South East Finals of Great British Care Awards

It goes without saying that all of us are over the moon that our very own, Care Home Manager Sylwia, has won The Care Home Registered Manager Award at the South East regional finals of The Great British Care Awards.

Sylwia Indycka, who has been our Registered Manager at Birtley House Nursing Home, Bramley, Surrey since 2018, was announced as the winner for the South East regional finals award ceremony in Brighton earlier this month. The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a true celebration of excellence in care. The purpose of these awards is to honour those who have demonstrated outstanding effort and hard work within their field of work.

Award-Winning Care at our Nursing Home, Bramley, Surrey

Sylwia will now participate in the national finals of The Great British Care Awards next year. “I am delighted to receive this award. My aim as a manager is to inspire and motivate those around me, but this has been more important than ever over in recent times. Social care is changing, and care homes need strong leadership. I am very proud of the staff at Birtley House Nursing Home for their resilience and commitment.”

Other encouraging and successful steps forward for the home is that further members of the team at Birtley were also shortlisted for awards:

Steve Hounsham, Head Chef at Birtley House was highly commended for The Home Care Chef Award for challenging care home food stereotypes.

Tina Bell, Head of Activities and Wellbeing at Birtley House, was successfully shortlisted for Activities Organiser Award for keeping residents entertained during the pandemic when day trips and visitations were restricted.

Tim Whalley, Director and nominated Individual at Birtley House, was successfully shortlisted for The Care Innovator Award for continuing to push technological improvements within the care sector.

And Birtley House Nursing Home itself, with its history of almost 90 years of care, was successfully shortlisted for the Care Employer Award.

“We have an outstanding team of unsung heroes at Birtley House. Every member of staff gives an exceptional level of care. I’m delighted that their dedication and professionalism has been recognised. As you can see by the smiles on our faces, we are extremely proud of our winners and all those at Birtley who were shortlisted for the awards.”
